 Samajik Udhog Vyapar Mandal Protests Against Tax and Electricity Rate Hikes

Saharanpur: Samajik Udhog Vyapar Mandal held a meeting where district president Rajesh Gulati expressed strong opposition to the recent tax hikes and proposed electricity rate increases.

 According to Gulati, the GIS survey conducted by the Municipal Corporation has led to a significant increase in taxes, with some cases seeing a 500% hike, which is unaffordable for many businessmen.

Gulati cited the example of Ghaziabad, where the mayor recently withdrew a tax imposition, and demanded that the government follow suit in Uttar Pradesh and Saharanpur. He warned that if the tax hikes are not withdrawn, the trade board will organize protests and effigy burning across the state.

The proposed electricity rate hike was also strongly criticized, with Gulati pointing out that Uttar Pradesh already has some of the highest electricity rates in the country. He argued that the increase would further burden the common man, who is already struggling with inflation.

Gulati and other prominent members, vowed to take strong action against the government's decision to increase taxes and electricity rates. With the threat of protests looming, the government is under pressure to reconsider its policies and find alternative solutions to address its revenue needs.
